While corn starch and flour will work on an unexpected blood feather if you are clipping nails yourself you need to be prepared.

I clip/dremel all my birds nails once every two months. I have quite a few birds and I've been doing it over 25 years. I'm an expert nail clipper. Before I clip a nail I make sure I have my quik stop. No quik stop no nail cutting, end of story.
