Hi everyone
I have a young Creamino Quaker parrot (see pictures attached) who is currently moulting and turning a darker yellow
It's/her parents are:
Cock/dad turquoise split for opaline and albino
Hen/mum is a blue opaline

So this young Creamino should be a female, as the 'ino' gene is sex linked?

This next bit I'm a little lost on, as this is the first time I've produced a creamino......
What colour mutation would you pick for her, as a future mate and why?
Your answers will hopefully teach me a little more about the 'ino' gene
Kind regards
Simon

Since lutino in quakers is sex-linked recessive, males need two gene copies to show it visually while females only need one. Only the father has the lutino gene in this equation, so your bird must be female!
As for her future partner, it really depends what mutations you find attractive. If you like the lutino gene, definitely pair her with a male that is either visual or split to it. That way, their offspring also have a chance of showing the mutation.
I personally prefer lutinos and creaminos over albinos, so if it were up to me, I'd pair her with a lutino split turquoise male. Their offspring could either be lutino, turquoise + blue + lutino (creamino), or turquoise + lutino (also called creamino). Turquoise lutinos have more intense yellow color in comparison to turquoise blue lutinos.

I would also like to mention that saying a bird is "split for albino" can be rather confusing. Does it mean he's split for blue AND lutino? Or just lutino? It's better to list them out individually rather than combining them :)
