There appears to be lots of other very weak stars in the sky unless it's just noise in the sensor.

Yes! Orion is my favorite,,if you look at about 5 o'clock under the middle star in his belt,,,that's M42, or,, The Orion nebula,,this is a nursery, where new stars are being born. If you have a good set of binoculars, on a dark moonless night, you can really see how beautiful it is..

Its probably noise, but I was thinking, it's the milky way, even though the phone dosent pick it up..

Yep, there is the nursery nebula in the belt. I have just made it out with binoculars.
I used to be into astronomy. Orion is the constellation I can always recognize. Its very distinct.
