My house sparrow has corn smelling breath.

Not sweet corn...like corn chip corn breath.

His breath has been this way for over a year..but sometimes it smells much stronger

I dont give him corn. There may be an odd piece in his cooked bird Bread here and there....

Is the smell bad? Is it some kind of infection?

I cant take him to a vet because he is a wild bird rescue and by law, they will seize him.

I have raised him since he was 6 or so days old and he turned 7 now.

He eats budgie seed, harrisons pellets, fresh salad, cucumber, carrot, celery, zucchini, dried mealworms before bed, nearly everyday...

Thoughts?

He is so adorable! I don't know the answer to that but hopefully someone else will. It's so unfortunate that the law isn't considerate of different circumstances. I wonder if a wildlife sanctuary could help in finding vet resources for you, in the event of an emergency. I hope you'll never need one but It's good to have options.
