Hi all. What color would my lovebird be considered? I've read a bunch of articles on the different colors and mutations. Very interesting but also very confusing. I was just told he was a pied. The color on his head is a very light yellow.

Seems to be a baby still have one black tiny dot on the beak so could be Opaline Turquoise Pied. Opaline because the sides of the head looks like it’s kinda fading.

He's (sex not confirmed) between 3-4 months old. Here are some pics from today.

The lines of Parblue series are very hazy! But Aqua, Turquoise and AquaTurquoise all have defining features.

Baby beak confused me but @Zara is correct with it being a Turquoise Pied. But I also think it has a dark factor too
So, I was able to connect with the breeder. I was told parents were a Creamino and a Blue White Face. In the clutch, my lovie was the only "blue" baby. Dark factor sounds so ominous. I like it. LOL.

This is what he looked like when I first got him.

Blue White Face
Interesting the breeder said this. There are no ¨Blue¨ Roseicollis. White faced is basically Turquoise. All of my birds apart from my pallid are white faced, amonsgt them are a couple of different mutations.

There are green series and blue series. Parblue are part of blue series :) I have a book by one of the best breeders of Lovebirds. So that’s what breeder meant that he was the only blue series probably the others were green series. Dirk Van de Abeele.

I got the book when I was raising the lovebirds chicks. Blue series are hatched with silvery/greyish feathers while green series are hatched with yellow feathers BA2D7966-E1F9-497D-9725-DB4A935A3D1F.png
These are two of the 5 chicks I hand raised.

There is only Green or Parblue in Roseicollis. No Blue.
(this thread is about a Roseicollis lovebird)

I also have a book by Mr Dirk Van Den Abeele. I have the Lovebird Compendium, wonderful book!

Peachfaced Lovebird aka Rosy-faced Lovebird Breeding & Genetics - Simplified | Beauty of Birds this web page is very good and it refers to it as Blue series.
Acording to the ALBS
There is a mutation called Blue or True Blue. 835B2FFE-1A34-484E-8D6D-98DCC6051214.png

Screenshot of the website, I think both names are acceptable you can call it blue or parblue which ever you prefer. 3CE9E1F3-4FAB-499C-A977-7ABC4BB64CF5.jpeg

No.
There are Green, Blue and ParBlue(*Blue). But with A.Roseicollis there is no Blue. There are all three for Fischeri and Personatus.

Exactly.
I see he wrote ¨*blue*¨. I have seen it written as ¨Parblue¨ and also ¨*Blue¨ - so you could use those interchangably. But you can´t mix them with Blue, as that is something different.
