My hands have been so dry lately and I know not to use any kind of lotions with handling but is coconut oil ok? Also I use the cheap latex gloves from Walmart to clean dishes and around house, a friend said they were toxic to birds. Is this true?

Add what you need to for your skin and just don't touch your bird till the lotion/cream is all soaked in and not leaving residue all over a glass for example. Coconut oil is not something you want on your birds feathers any more than any other lotion for your skin.

I have to use medicated creams and lotions on my skin at times so I just make sure I do not touch my bird while the stuff is still soaking in, if I have to handle my bird then I would wipe the residue off so there is no transfer.
