Sadly no,Do you have an Aloe Vera plant?
I’d use water first then if it wasn’t renewing fast enough I’d opt for fresh Aloe Vera gel before considering oil, I don’t believe I’d be comfortable using oil on the skin in most situations as it can get into feathers so unless the vet specifically told me to use it I’d avoid it.
I also recall reading here on AA somewhere that it could interfere with their temperature regulation.
Usually a few baths will sort out dry skin from this sort of thing.
How bad is it?
Appreciate the offer!I’m not sure what’s in store bought aloe.
I have a heap of Aloe Vera plants here, I wonder what the rules are here for sending plants interstate from VIC to NSW. I’d happily pull one up and wash the roots off and post it to you express post if you f you want to check up the law on it and pay for postage.
Unless the skin is really bad I’d stick with water. Some people use a basic vitamin e cream I believe but I’m not positive
Just curious, how does coconut oil interfere with temp regulation? Is it something in the oil itself or just the fact its very greasy.Do you have any vitamin E capsules?? If so poke a needle in the end and squeeze out a drop or two and rub gently over the skin. Do not use coconut oil it's much too greasy and can interfer with their body temperature regulation. And can be messy on their feathers
Makes sense! Thanks for explainingVery greasy, birds use their feathers to fluff out if they are cold, flatten if they are too warm. If your feathers are greasy they clump together by the grease.
If you go to buy one then please double and then triple check that it is actually Aloe Vera (the sort used for consumption and medicinal purposes). I gave some plants away recently to a fair few people who have all told me they all got ripped off by sellers (some rather big names such as Bunnings too) who sold them varieties of Aloe which are no good for ingesting or first aid and were refused refunds when they realised they bought plants they did not want and could not use.Just curious, how does coconut oil interfere with temp regulation? I'm going to get some vitamin E capsules to keep on-hand incase it flares up badly. Either that or I might buy an aloe vera plant, been wanting one for a while now anyway.
Oh wow, thanks for the heads up!
