Cockatoo eyebrows!

These past couple of months, we’ve noticed that gonzo has started moving the feathers above his eyes(eyebrows?). It’s the little yellow feather, thats almost like strands of hair. My parents says you can really start to see his facial expressions now . He moves them in different ways if he’s excited, angry, scared, etc. I haven’t seen anything online about this, I wonder if it’s a cockatoo thing?

My dad grew up with many parrots, he even rescued a double yellow head when he was a kid. He always used to say “gonzos not normal” and “birds aren’t a supposed to do that” . Gonzo likes to be scratched like you would scratch a dog, and my dad would always try to preen gonzo and they would both get frustrated . It’s weird, but Gonzo is a lot like me when I was a kid, so my dad will play the same games with him, and take him “exploring” in the backyard .

Lemon does the eyebrows thing as well. He drops his "eyebrow" feathers when he's angry, almost like a scowl... also uses them in expressions of happy, scared and curious. I wonder if it's that they observe us and our faces and try to imitate that body language.
