We have a cockatoo at work. The public has complained, thankfully, so she is getting a new cage!!

Where do you get your cages from and what should I know to help the owners daughter in picking one out?

Where is the bird located, and what species of Cockatoo?
These will help with suggestions on size and place to purchase.

It lives in a greenhouse in Alberta, Canada.

I'll have to find out which species. She said it was the smallest cockatoo.

Our Canadian member may be able to point you to a good place to shop.
Perhaps ask a moderator to add Canada to the title so those members see it?

I would suggest an indoor aviary. The public probably sees all this space devoted to merchandise & very little devoted to the cockatoo. Also, if they reject your idea, it won't wind up in an itty, bitty cage again.

@The_Mayor has a lovely indoor aviary; in the US, but it could likely be shipped.

She's a Goffin cockatoo. There is a macaw and another cockatoo who have an aviary but she has a single cage.

Can you take pictures of her current cage the aviary that other birds are in? Also did you know keeping a cockatoo and macaw in the same cage is not good idea. It can lead respiratory problems for macaw.

I wonder if the misting in a greenhouse would cut down on dust significantly.

I will at the end of the day today.

These birds have been there for 25+ years. I just started there so don't want to get myself fired. Just trying for baby steps and "Corky" definitely needs a bigger cage.

I will definitely tell the daughter about the respiratory issues and we will see...

They are owned by a senior and I think the thought is they are taken care of so happy and healthy.
