Hi ... I have a male cockatiel, about 11 years old. He was very protective of his female who died recently. Now he wants to be on my shoulder, or within view of me, constantly. If not, he never stops chirping. Is there anything I can do to stop this behavior?

How long ago did the female pass away? His calling might diminish in time.
More of a routine would help, or calling or whistling back. Foraging toys might keep him busy too, but this is a very natural flock call behavior that will be hard to stop completely.

The poor thing.

If it was a recent passing, he’s likely looking for her - or at the very least looking to you for comfort, as you’re part of the flock.
