Cockatiel handling and harness training

Hi everyone, I have 3 and a half year male cockatiel and I was just wondering if anyone had any tips on harness training or just handling in general. He can step up and is very cuddly and trusts me to an extent but is there any way I could get him more comfortable with my hand in general? He does not like to be picked up and often flies away. I'd like to get him harness trained so I can take him outside. Any tips or tricks are very welcome! Thanks guys

Hello Im still working on harness training with my kiddos but something that really helped getting my green cheek used to hands was target training/training in general. I also had been keeping his harness in his line of site until it no longer seemed to bother him then would hold it while training to step up and wouldn't force a step up if he was uncomfortable. Ive seen really great videos for harness training but it does take half a lifetime at least for some birds ive heard other birds are a lot more open to the harness then mine are. I wish you luck!
