I have a six year old cockatiel and all day today she has had black-looking droppings that are dark brown if looked at closer. She is acting completely normal (eating and drinking etc) so i'm not sure if I should be worried. I did take her to see my mom 4 days ago who has a conure and a yellow naped amazon but they didnt interact really. could she have picked something up from there?? any advice or input is appreciated IMG_7510.jpg

Sometimes this dark can be digested blood from higher in gi system. Can be a sign of heavy metal poisoning...can be just from something they ate.

I dont think its something she ate as i watch her diet very closely and she not an adventurous eater. If shes acting okay should I still be worried? should i take her to the vet?

If you smear the fresh droppings, sometimes that can give you a better idea of what color they actually are.

How long have the dark droppings been going on?

Here is an older conversation about dark poop if you want to read comments and suggestions. It seems this bird resolved without intervention tho had more symptoms than just dark stool .
