Last night my bird, Captain had a night fright which hasn’t happened before and broke a blood feather. It was small and the bleeding stopped quickly but I’ve heard that I have to remove it, what do I do? To describe it, when I looked at it it was basically like a half pipe that leads into a full pipe, in skateboarding.

If the bleeding has stopped it does not need removed. Only remove if it will not stop, or starts bleeding a few different times.

Most bleeding feathers will stop with cornstarch/flour etc

I'm sure it's all under control now but just an fyi- I took a avian health care class and the vet said very rarely does a blood feather need to be pulled. As Zara said, it's only if the bleeding won't stop. And it's better to have a vet do it, if possible. Pulling a feather is actually really painful for a bird too.
