So, unfortunately, the couple that planned to adopt "Deku" (pineapple female hatched 6/13) decided that it is in their best interest not to bring another bird home at the moment (understandable). Sorry for any potential typos, Mischief (wild-type male hatched 6/20) and Mayhem (wild-type male hatched 6/17) are climbing all over me while I type. I have decided that I will keep Deku, now named "Minke" (pronounced mean-key) after the Minke whale, often referred to as "stinky minkes." I am also very attached to Mayhem, who some of you may remember was stunted and we weren't sure if he was going to make it. He is the sweetest baby in the clutch and he is staying as well. I just bought a nice big cage for him and his sister to share  Then the oldest chick, Sandpiper (pineapple female hatched 6/10) will be going to my dear friend @parrotfish who is actually going to be moving in with his current GCC, Puffin, in mid-september.

Now for mom and dad... Toto (mom) is a bit startled by the chicks, but overall nice (the girls try and bully her!) and Koko (dad)... well he has shown signs of feather destructive behavior. He is barbering his shoulders and I see a bit more down than I would like on his tummy and under his wings. His behavior is unchanged and I do believe it is him adjusting to all of the changes (he did only come home in May!) I am going to be adjusting a few things before taking him to the vet since we just poured in so much money into the babies. Just eliminating potential causes such as too much light, not enough out of cage time (he has been in a bit more since I've been passed out all day from the babies), as well as being allowed more time with his daughters (he contact calls a lot with them). Hopefully things will get back to normal soon! He is still outgoing, active, interested in food and playing, getting preened and still as feisty as usual. Again, very mild, maybe even just over preening (I see him also trying to pull out the babies' down feathers -.-)

Cage is all set up… everyone except mischief has gone higher, but they still go down to cuddle him  I’ve left an additional food and water bowl on the floor for him as well
