I've got a special little girl named Cinder. She's a tiel. She came to me at the age of nine, with a badly deformed foot, and chronic sinus infections. She was in a bad environment, being picked on and beaten up by other birds, and that his how her leg became broken, and dislocated. It was never treated and healed badly, and she lived that way for over two years before coming to me. My vet suggested amputation, for Cinder's own comfort and safety, so that is what we did. It was the right decision, as now she is much happier and it is actually easier for her to get around with one leg, than it was with a badly deformed leg sticking out to the side and getting caught in the cage bars. She is almost 14 years old now, and is very happy, content, and sweet. She is not totally tame, but will let me pick her up to move her from place to place. She does not enjoy being held for long though, and wont allow scritches. But thats okay with me. Just knowing she feels safe, and happy and secure, is very rewarding. She deserves to be happy, and as far as I can tell, she is. Thanks for reading. This is Cinder:
