I have a new canary. Not sure of gender but it chirps every morning for several hours. It’s like having a cricket in my house! Does anyone know why?

Welcome to the forum.

I'm not a canary expert, but Google says males sing, while females chirp.

Welcome!!

I don’t know much about canaries, but I’ve heard/read they’re pretty much constant noise makers. If it’s cricket sounding, I think that’s supposed to indicate a female bird, while males are more “singers”
