Chica layed her 6 eggs, and the last egg was layed 20/1. She started plucking her butt to give the eggs heat, and now it really looks red. We are worried about it, and we are wondering what we can do about it, does anyone have any experience with this, perhaps a cream from the vet. Its just that denmark doesnt have any avian vets so would like to hear more then just 1 opinion.
Chica is acting perfectly fine, she is eating and flying around like she normaly does. She doesnt look tired or fluffly.
Here is a few pictures:

Is that a prolapse or just raw skin? Do you have any sterile wash? Or anitbiotic cream?

Prolaspe is when the inside pokes outside. Sort of like a hemyroid. It can happen when hens lay eggs.

I would boil some water to sterilize it let it get cool and then I would apply cool compresses to her behind. Then I would put a tiny bit of neopsorin or other anitbiotic cream on it.

We dont have any antibiotic cream.

She is on the eggs alot, 2 of the eggs she ate, cause there was nothing in them. There is 4 left, but their not fertile. Should we take the eggs away? The first egg was layed 10/1 and the last 20/1.

what kind of bird is she? none of mine have plucked their butts to help with the eggs, a couple of my female budgies have pulled out some stomach feathers but never butt feathers, they sit on the eggs with their bellies (or at least all mine do

I wouldn't use anything greasy that'll make a huge nasty mess - have you ever tried to get Vaseline out of hair? Its no better trying to get it out of feathers

if you can get Pure ALOE VERA JUICE (not sure if you have a Walmart but I bought mine in the Pharmacy Isle) that may help some just mix it in a clean water bottle and give her a shower with it.

That Healx Soother plus cream would really help. It has a mild analgesic and anti-biotic in it.

Is there a place that sells Harrisons products?
None what so ever... In Denmark we only have seed and plastic toys for birds... We just started getting Zupreme pellets =/

I agree too soon to take the eggs away..way too soon..they will usually abandon after about 30 days...we start taking one a week after about 25 days...( I was advised to do that)--but do not take the final ones away until she appears to not be sitting on them at all..- also shells on the eggs should be all hard..if not she will need a calcium supplement which you can order on line..i.e. calci boost..a cuttle bone calcium rich foods like broccoli and kale...keep coming back here every so often as there are bound to :hug8:b e some good answers for you dear...
