Opie loves to chew on his leather strips toy. He will sit for an hour with one foot tucked up just chewing away. But, I think it is affecting his beak (lower) on his right side.

I’ve sent these photos to his vet, but I’m wondering if you think his leather chewing has caused this and if it needs to be treated in some way?

Thank you!

It's definitely possible that's the cause.

Oscar goes does something similar with a chain, but in his case it's a narrowing of the tip of his upper beak -- that's what he inserts into a link as he's playing.

In Oscar's case, I "treat" it by giving him a new toy with less exposed chain when I see him doing that for too long. I'll leave it to your vet to assess whether Opie has lost enough material for it to require a medical intervention.

Thanks @flyzipper. I’ve taken that leather strip toy away from him for now. Opie sticks his upper beak into things to play, too. Luckily he isn’t quite as obsessive with that!
