I've got my princess bubs in a critter keeper (plastic tank) with wood shavings on the bottom and a heat mat on the side. The heat mat hasn't even been on the past few days as it's been so hot that the brooder stays about 30C without it. Today it's been sitting at about 29C but when i just glanced at it now it said 36.3C!!! A quick peek in the tank revealed that the bubs are sitting on the sensor. 
It sure scared me for a minute!
