Urgent Chapped Nares

Hi there! I have a sun conure with chapped nares.

Some context: My avian vet looked into her nose at a check-up back when I first got her and discovered the flaps she has in her nares are twice the size of a normal bird's and fused to the inside leaving a tiny hole at the bottom. Unlike a normal bird's they can't be moved, either, and because of this quirk it causes her to get runny noses semi-regularly and, for my conure, is normal. Vet said it was caused by genetics, and not much can be done about it.

Today I noticed that the skin on her nose was flaky, no bleeding and it doesn't look irritated, but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for something bird safe to possibly help her with some dry skin on her nares.

I would not put anything on it. Use a humidifier to add moisture to the room.

Maybe a good bath and ensuring a healthy diet?

What are you feeding?

Don't put anything on it except what your vet recommends.

WHOOPS! Sorry for not posting sooner!

She's doing well, the 'problem' went away the next day so it was probably just dried snot that looked slightly different from normal but it went away with her usual bath.

She eats roudybush and a nutriberry a day. She also gets freeze dried on occasion because she throws anything fresh out the cage, but I keep trying.
