can't read mail

there is a red mark on the little letter after my online handle and no matter what I do I can't read the mail I click everywhere on earth and cannot open the letter and the little red with 1 inside never goes away ever it looks to me like it is mail I should read why can't I read it.I can see whats written when there is a number on the little bell

and of course as soon as I post a thread about my mail delemma I click on the little red 1 and it goes right to the mail I was trying to read why didn't it just do that the other hundred times I tried.

I’ll be cheeky and say I personally am glad to see you had this issue and it resolved itself as I also had an incident a few weeks back (maybe 2?) where I could not open a PM for the life of me and then as soon as I told someone else I got into it. Was the most bizarre thing and if my son hadn’t also tried to open it I’d think I had imagined the issue. Lol.
