Can I briefly sub in a breeding ready male for a non fertile male with a hen who is laying non fertile eggs just to mate once with her and then replace the original male?

Are males bad parents or do they just favour some of their genes?

They’re great parents.

I think it’s a matter of convenience? Keep 1 male and 4 females instead of 4 pairs?
