Can turacos be house pets

Like can it work out if you keep it in a small indoor aviary or bird proofed room , or in a commercially avalible double macaw cage with alot of out of cage time,are they trainable ,one person described their temperament as a mix between a toucan and a laughing dove

What is it about them that attracts you? Someone may be able to suggest a similar personality in a common species.

Personally, I’d choose between species that are known to do well in captivity. Everyone has their own ideas, but for me that would be canaries/other common finches, parrots (except Greys & all the Toos) & domestic fowl like chickens, if you have the room.

I’ve seen them for sale in uk but always advertised as Avery birds I don’t know anything about their care

Not available here. Though I understand that they are like our Rainbow Lorrikeets, in that being fruit eaters, the poop is very messy.
