I have some of these growing in the grass in my backyard. I have no idea if its something that my budgies can eat. Do you guys know what this is and if its safe for them to eat?

It is a type of grass.
Well, if you tell where you live, I could ask in a forum, what grass exactly. Maybe we get nearer.

Johnson grass, bear grass and sedge grass are considered toxic I think. (?)
I am not sure what type of grass is pictured. Personally I wouldn't give it to birds until someone can positively identify it and it can be researched.

Here's a list of safe and toxic grass:

Grass identification (drop down menu top right):

Also it's good to ensure any grass is free of herbicides, fertilizers, pesticides, fungus, bugs, etc.

There is an article about fescue here:

.

I am not sure if the grass pictured is fescue, but it looks similar to tall fescue both at the seed heads and the stem.
It looks like what I have is tall fescue. And that article u posted says that its toxic to almost every animal that eats it. I guess I have my answer now and I wont be givin any of it to my birds.

Thanks for the help everyone!!:)
