Seconding Mizzley's reply! I also wanted to add that sometimes a bird can have all of the signs of being one gender, but without a DNA test it's not always reliable unless they're a definitely sexually dimorphic species! I have a BFA who is smaller bodied and acts EXACTLY like a female... except DNA tested male!

The amount of barring could also be due to subspecies in linnies. One subspecies has more while the other has less.
