Cairo the Catalina Macaw

I snapped a few gorgeous pictures of my Catalina Macaw that I adopted this summer. He was rescued through animal control. Cairo amazes me everyday with his beauty, vocabulary, funny personality, & ferocious appetite. I have some really neat videos on my YouTube channel if anyone is interested. I would love to hear from others with a Catalina Macaw too! I'm so in love!!!

Yes, he was. I do know that the owner thought it was a girl and had it paired with a boy. I had him DNA tested, he's no girl, ha ha! He was taken by animal control after several birds were found with cages uncleaned for over 2 months and he had no perches. Can you believe it!?! I know we can but oh so sad. I am thankful everyday he has a beautiful life now.

I wanted to name him Cora since I was sure he was a girl from the previous owner's information BUT then came up with Cairo after learning he was a boy. Cairo means victorious & when the city was founded, the people saw the rising star of Mars. Thus, Mars is reddish/orange, it was perfect!
