So I was originally emailed about taking in 2 african greys. I declined because of the risk to Cody, my B&G macaw. Now, through a friend of a friend, an option has come up to either get a "bonded" (I say loosely because I've read how caiques can be) sun conure & BH caique or 2 green cheeks. Now I have experience with both green cheeks & sun conures, but not caiques. Unfortunately, she will only rehome the caique with the sun because they are "bonded". All of the birds are under 3 years old and healthy. My biggest question is what are the chances that the caique turns on the sun? I read on here that age 4 through 7 are typically their rougher years. These birds are in a big cage....together. I just would like to know what I'm getting into before I say yes to one or the other.

I vote for the green cheeks. They're my favorite species. I would avoid the bonded pair, but that's just me personally.

Based on the resident caique experts over the years, its not a risk I would personally be up to taking on. Could it be fine for years? Sure. But there's not way to predict the future, and caiques have tried to or successfully killed several birds on this forum over the years.
