I have an almost 6 month old caique that just doesn't want to wean. I am feeding 3x time a day between 20-30cc. The crying has gotten much better but still only wants formula. She will pick at millet but thats about it. Any thoughts or advice?

@Irishj9 would know better than I as I am unaware of their average weaning age, but assume that that is a bit older than what is "normal". Just keep in mind that all birds wean differently, and abundance weaning will lead to a much healthier bird than one that is forced to go "cold turkey" so to speak.

1) Whats the rush?. Is there some urgent appointment with carrots that she must not miss?
2) This is the most curious bird in the world, for whom food is a religion. If it is not picking at new foods, and demanding to share what food is in your hand, then it is very young.

How long have you had it?

Id like to see a close up of the throat feathers. Scrappy throat feathers with visible gaps of skin are a sure sign of a very young bird. How recently was it fledged?

To a caique Food = love, quite simply

A young bird exposed to a new environment and new people can quickly revert to a child stage, in orfder to be fed ( loved) and feel secure

Thank you! Macaws, and cockatoos, are also well known for regression.
