Bigger is always better unless the bird has some sort of medical issues that restrict movement. Think about it, in the wild parrots travel miles upon miles; the sky is the limit. The very least we can do is provide the biggest enclosure possible.

My nanday's cage is bigger than what you have for your green cheek and I still wish it could be bigger. Luckily, she gets to spend a lot of time outside of the cage and I take her outside to fly on a harness.

The more room the better. I did not see the bar spacing on the site, I believe 1/2" is the largest you want to go. What I find a pain with a large cage and smaller bird is the food bowls that come with the cage. They always seem HUGE. My little guy climbs in. It's not a PROBLEM per se, I just wish they weren't so deep. I've changed them out for some more shallow dishes.

They did reply to another that was asking that same Q on that page.

Can anyone tell me what the bar spacing is on this cage?

A.There is a 1" bar spacing.

The bar spacing on that cage is 3/4" according to Amazon. Not too large of a cage although I might be concerned about the bar spacing although you wrote that she doesn't fit through the bars.

I have a bigger cage that that for my conure, and my two evil twins (lovebirds) also have a bigger cage. In this case, big is truly better :hehe:

And I forgot to add. I don't think that that cage is big.

The cage is a perfect size..........3/4 in bar spacing is a little large, 5/8 in would probably have been better but just keep an eye out and make sure she cannot get stuck between the bars. But like everyone else has said........bigger is better!

Nice upgrade. I don't think that cage is too big. Your sun will be happy once she acclimatises to it. My sun conure's cage is 48" wide. He uses the entire width.

24"x22" width by length is the smallest size cage Id recommend, so your cage should be fine for a gcc.

it seems silly to have this massive cage for a small conure.
Seems silly to live in such a large house when you can easily live in one room.

This my Sunny's cage (sun conure) he uses all of it and he also spend a couple of hours out of the cage each day playing. My love birds has a similar size cage and they use all of it as well as whole house, as they fly from room to room. The more space the better. IMG_5190.JPG

My quakers and gcc have all lived in cages bigger than that and it's still too small for them ;)

If you had to live in a 12 foot by 10 foot house (120 sq feet) most of your life, would that be too big? That's comparable to what you're providing your bird. They evolved to fly miles a day, the 2 feet between sides is a far cry from that.

Not too big.
