Yikes!Cheddar strikes again! He goes through one of these in less than a month. Most of the time there's NOTHING left but the screw, washer and wingnut. It's called a Mini Paper Party.

My Parrotlet, Streak, who passed away years ago had a toy he loved. BUT at $16.00 each and having to get them from a bird rescue meeting 4 hours away I had to learn to make them myself. The things we do for these little ones, and foolishly think WE are in charge? My quakers used to love those!
You can see these were not a quick build either! Yeah I made a few at a time. Streak could and would go through one in a couple of days.

Funny, I was just thinking I should go to Home Depot and pick out a couple of hard wood and pine boards and ask the guy that can cut them down to size to make more than just a couple of cuts. In my best little old lady ways.. "can you show me how this machine thingy works? " " Oh wow! It does that!?" " Can you do that again.. and again... and again...and again..." And before you know it I have lots of slices to take home, drill holes in and string up. I do have a drill press. I did have a compound miter saw that disappeared. Thinking Hubby let someone borrow it and it never got returned. At least he's not admitting to it. What kind of perches does he have? I have in almost every small cage the safety pumice perch. Really keeps the nails filed for my smaller birds and the sides are good for them to rub beaks on. Looks like Kazoobirds is out of them right now but you can check with her to see when they will be back in stock. I bought the small size, not the extra small. I purchased the large from a different vendor and just ordered the medium from that vendor also for my zons. Needed a couple of perches inside their cages they can't destroy and the large really doesn't file their nails so I'm hoping the medium will . I'm a pro at trimming small nails but less likely to battle the biggies on theirs. Clair does have a better price. I spent enough at Sweetfeetandbeak to get free shipping. Safety Pumice Perch Small | For Cockatiels & ConuresI wish BB would take after him. While BB does chew on a toy it's mainly cardboard and he really needs to get at the wood as his beak ends up having to be trimmed the vet. It never overgrows so much it interferes with his eating or preening but I worry about him.
What does his beak look like?Nails are mostly not a big problem it BBs beak. I do get them groomed twice a year as a rule. BUT this year has been different due to me having a heart attak and the meds rally giving me fit. We do have an apt for a couple of weeks from now thou.
What? the ones I made OR the ones Cheddar does in?That's some impressive beak work!

Is both the right answer? What? the ones I made OR the ones Cheddar does in?![]()
