Thought I'd throw a note here for anyone who would be interested.
I realized today the Cute Little Birdies Aviary website is back!
Considering how much I used to use this for mutation reference I'm extremely glad about that. I need the visuals of the photos that a lot of other websites lack.

Em from a few weeks ago, cause she tends to get left out of updates accidentally... :o:

He has always had red eyes, cameras don't always pick up on eye colour ime. Even when I had my albino budgie :)
Moon has the fallow mutation and honestly is the whole reason he stole my attention the day I got him. I don't like to buy on mutation now but he was too special to me.

Em is precious!!! :xflove:

Yes it takes like a hundred differnet takes for me to get a good photo of Patchy as well. Moment I take the phone out he starts acting weird lol!! It seems like most birds are this way  camera shy little guys

Many of my older budgies were actually very photogenic. I just haven't adjusted to how skittish my current ones are. Sunbeam actually had a strong interest in phones and would come stick her face in the way all the time

That's interesting! How old were your budgies? I'm wondering if it's because phones got larger and more creepy looking. Like my phone has 3 huge cameras and is the size of a tablet at this point lol. If I was a cute lil puff ball parrot I'd also be scared.

That's hard to answer? I had a few of them since babies. I lost them from 3-4 years old to 8-9, depends and I can't remember the exact ages off the top of my head right now.

I only upgraded my phone a couple months ago :wacky: I'd been running on an almost ten year old phone for a few years and it was the "newest" phone I'd ever owned! So I'm only now dealing with the issue of VERY large scary phone, sometimes even my galah is caught off guard with it.

Alinta has developed a fast growing beak...
I took her to work where there's thankfully someone experienced in beak trimming and so we got that done. It was a REALLY stressful day for her because she had to be there for my whole shift/be alone/get handled, but she did really well considering. Didn't want to go too short so we're going to see where we're at in about two weeks and I'm going to get my act together and buy some more things to chew for management at home.

I've been bitten with the urge to ATTEMPT growing sprouts yet again... so naturally I needed to buy some fresh sprouting mix. A simple task really.

But when I got onto the website I saw they had Q's favorite toy again! So naturally I need a couple of those... (I thought I double checked the size I used to buy but these seem much bigger... :o:)

V this toy is massive... and hopefully will help with Alinta's beak!

It's been a while since I've bought bird toys (for people who don't know me, my birds still had enrichment. I use natural enrichment and they have some plastic and SS toys normally always in their cages.). And back when I would try to buy stuff I could never seem to find toys like these?? Which are exactly what I WANT for my birds. I'm not sure if maybe I just always looked in the wrong places but it's been interesting to me to see more and more bird supplies become available here. When I opened that box I was actually hit with so much excitement and overwhelm at the same time (it's been a long day :shy:), younger me four or so years ago was working so hard to make this sort of thing possible for my birds.
Some things are already in the cages, Q will likely get his later this week. I'll be mostly focused on my dog's upcoming surgery the next few days.

Less than 24hr and first casualty... there has been SO much cork, mahogany and sola on the floor but it actually makes me happy to see... so far it's mostly the young ones playing, I saw Moon nibbling. Alinta does need a retrim so she may not be able to chew well enough right now...

It's that time of year for Budgies - you should see Mum's avairy floors.
That Blue Opaline cock has show blood in him.
That’s Emelia, she is a hen.
She has an ANBC ring so I would assume so, I got her through someone else though, not her breeder.

Ah she is out of condition (breeding condition) with that cere.
Yes I noticed the ring. Can see the number - which just shows her birth order - the letters indicate the breeder - and the tiny sideways numbers her year of birth.
Aust has rules for ringing show budgies to make it easy to confirm things like that.
Very useful if you need to follow up something, and sometimes if birds go missing.
As people like my mother record who they sell to - can only work so far if the birds are onsold - but still sometimes helps lost birds make it home.
