My dad rescued this bulbul baby as he kept falling from his nest. We took very good care of him for almost 3 weeks now but two days ago my dad was showing him bird videos on his phone & accidentally the phone fell on his leg. Ever since then he has been holding up his leg & limping. He has been using his wing to maintain balance. Can someone tell me if I need to take him to the vet or will this injury heal by itself??? It's our first time dealing with something like this and we have been super worried about him. You can see the injured leg in this photo. He eats, chirps, perches & can fly a little but the way his claws are folding seems unnatural to me. Any help would be very appreciated!!

You can try to take him to avian vet, but most likely because it’s wild bird, they will recommend rehab for wild life. If there is one close go there first.

Thanks for responding! Will the injury not heal by itself, do we absolutely need to take him to the vet?

I don't think anyone on this forum can tell you definitively whether or not he would be fine without a vet appointment. We can't tell if we're dealing with a sprain, soft tissue damage, or a fracture. You'd be better off checking with a wildlife rehabilitation person or a vet who can handle the bird, assess the injury, and make an informed assessment based on experience their experience and knowledge.

I will say however, that the fact that he's still not moving his feet correctly 2 days later says to me he likely needs intervention.

Thank you for taking the time to explain that, I really appreciate your help. I’ll take him to the vet so he can be properly examined and get the treatment he needs.
