Hello everyone,

my budgie is about 8 years old and she is female. She is eating well and flying. However at night when I put her to sleep she has sneezing fits? In the morning when I take her out she’ll have a little bit of dried discharge above her nares that appears to be clear. Please help me I’m so stressed out by this and I want to avoid the vet if possible because I don’t want her to die of shock, shes also able to fly really high and Idk how they’ll be able to tame her...

Had anything changed in your home? New detergent/fabric softener/vacuum/etc?

if you take her in a Cage the veterinarian will reach in and get her for exam. They have nets usually if by some weird chance escaped their hands and examined in a room with door closed.

Burds are sensitive to chilling. So if it's cold where you are move her away from windows and drafts. If you can turn up heat in home every little bit helps .

With sneezes plus any kind of discharge , its not normal. I highly recommend veterinarian.

Every time my budgies have had sneezes they were sick

When did you last add a new burd?

we got our new bird about 4 years ago, it is cold here in Arizona but that doesn’t explain why she sneezes right when I put her into my bedroom for sleep...the window is far from their cage

I agree with @Pixiebeak - you definitely should see a vet. Nasal discharge can be a major problem if it’s not addressed quickly enough.
I will try I guess but I’m also worried about the cost of the visit, do any of you have an estimate of how much it’ll cost?

and with both sneezing
How many do you have? How many birds in the home? When was the newest burd added to the home?

It varies from clinic to clinic, from state to state… your best bet would be 1) Apply for Care Credit, and 2) Call around to different avian vets - not regular vets. You’ll need to see an avian specialist.

That’s actually worrying in itself. Vomiting is not a normal occurrence without something triggering it. Was it actual vomiting, or regurgitation?

It sounded like really high pitched sneezing, when I searched it up and found similar cases they said it was vomiting

But she stopped doing that now she’s just sneezing when I put her into my room for sleep
