Hello everyone!
I haven’t posted a thread in a while, and for those of you who know, Pastel was sick but she seems to have recovered fully. She is happy and playing with her toys, eating on her own and is less anxious overall! I’m going to include a picture

I’m planning on restoring my current apartment next month. It absolutely needs fresh paint. I’m going to be very careful not to let those fumes get to Pastel, and will be doing one room at a time. The problem is more about the colors I chose. There is a small bedroom next to mine which will be vacant and turned into an office/bird room. I had already been inspired by emerald green walls and black furniture. Would it be overwhelming for my budgie in your opinion? Or since green is a natural color and there would be alot of plants it could seem exotic and comfy to her? Let me know! Thanks:) DAEAE472-46DA-4E38-ACFB-512E2186478B.jpeg

sounds great! But if you are going to put plants in it anyway, would a lighter shade of green like mint or sage etc, make the plants stand out better? Wondering if the dark green may darken the room too much and not reflect light as much. Especially if she gets spooked, would not want her to fly into the wall instead of in the plant. Plus I’m partial to mint  You could accessorize with the dark green such as tubs for toys, vet wrap in green, a stand or swing hanging from the ceiling, ropes or ladder wrungs etc…

Want to see end product please!! :D

I agree about a lighter shade of green; I think it would look better & be more soothing.

The room is actually the sunniest in the whole apartment, so much i’m even afraid i’ll have to cover part of the cage so she doesn’t get direct sunlight! I don’t really like pale shades of any color, so if everyone is telling me that the dark green is too much i’ll just paint the room all white (and be sad about it). Looking at the comments i’m pretty confident that the lightening would fix the whole issue, but i’ll still take time to think about it and maybe also consider a warmer green? I’ll post pictures of the bird room when it’s done for sure!

you could try it in the green you want and lighten the odd wall if you think it’s dark. Don’t need yo change the whole thing. Make a feature wall in the green you want and go from there.:)

Green should be great! My room is a really vibrant blue. And I mean REALLY vibrant, I don't like pastels on my walls. However, I found something really weird, my budgies are all scared of red things when they move. The blue in the background of this pic is what most of my walls look like during the day. <3

I painted our living room teal - this colour: Canton (94)

It's not the room that Leia spends most time in, but she does have a stand and window perch there and spends time when she's out of her cage in there with us. I can't say that I've noticed that she's bothered by the colour.

Ultimately birds pick up our cues and if the colour makes you feel happy and relaxed, then I'm sure that Pastel will respond well. If you end up painting the room a pale colour that you wouldn't choose, you'll always feel a bit grumpy and resentful about it and I think your bird will pick up on that.

Hmmm... I find that shade of green a bit too blue. :)

My bird room is painted green - three walls are a very light green and one wall - an accent wall is painted a darker shade of green. When I painted it about 4-5 years ago - there were 3 shades of a color on a card (from Home Depot) I chose the lightest of the 3 for 3 of the walls and the darkest for the accent wall. I like it so much, the room was repainted in the same colors.
