Somehow there was a ton of liquid coming out of that little chick. He wasn’t improving and his crop still hadn’t emptied, so first thing this morning he went to the AV. The other two chicks seem perfect, I’m just a bit freaked out. Yellow went downhill so fast, I just don’t want anything to happen to the others.

That is the tough thing about chicks, they are so fragile they can just turn in one afternoon. I´m hoping for the best for the little guy, sending positive thoughts your way

Sad news, Yellow did not make it. He passed earlier today after taking another downward turn. The vet said he was born with several deformities both in his beak and in his legs, I suspected something was off about his legs too. She said that if I had left him in the nest he likely would have either starved or been killed by his mother for being abnormal. Even if he was on borrowed time, I’m still saddened by the news and I wish he had made it.

I’ll get some pictures up of his siblings in a little bit to perk up this thread, in truth it really is a happy story because two chicks are thriving and mom and dad are doing extremely well. Mom threw out all the eggs after leaving them to cool one night a few nights back. I’m happy to say that she’s done with that part of her life now.

I’m so sorry the little one didn’t make it, but it’s great to hear that the other chicks are thriving and that mom and dad are doing well. Yay for mom being done sitting and focusing so well on her babies!

Blue is now consistently rejecting the formula, he is ready to move into a cage but I’d hate for him to be alone if he doesn’t need to be, is it safe to put him back into the cage with his parents?
