How is buddy doing with plucking? Is he doing better?
He’s still barbering — all of his belly feathers grew in, and he let them stay neat for about a day or two before he started chewing the ends off again. How is buddy doing with plucking? Is he doing better?

Awe, poor baby. It's awesome you're doing so much and that you're taking care of him so well. He's so handsome. Definetly on my "AA steal list"He’s still barbering — all of his belly feathers grew in, and he let them stay neat for about a day or two before he started chewing the ends off again.
He’s had issues with barbering his shoulders since before we got him, so at this point I think the habit just evolved into barbering everywhere.
He gets lots of out time, we all spend time with him, I change out his toys whenever he seems to lose interest, he’s a GREAT eater, I rarely see hormonal-type behavior from him, the cat isn’t allowed anywhere near him, he isn’t alone for more than a few hours a day in total, and there’s always someone in the next room over when he is alone. The more I stress about it, the more he’ll stress about it; so at this point it is what it is. If he lets them grown out, great! If not, as long as he’s otherwise healthy and not showing any other behavioral issues I try not to worry about it too much.
The only other thing I think I could do at this point is put one of those felt collars on him — but I know for a fact it’d terrify him and he’d hate it![]()
I think sometimes plucking has nothing to do with our care has you said it’s become a habit but I know how you feel pico plucked I found cause and rehomed birds that were stressing him but he still carried on on and off i honestly think sometimes plucking is genetic or something that weirdly fetches so sort releaseHe’s still barbering — all of his belly feathers grew in, and he let them stay neat for about a day or two before he started chewing the ends off again.

My bird Rico had a persistent feather-plucking issue for most of his life. I could never figure it out because he had the freedom of my apt, had plenty toys - but never touched them. He was also a very bad sleeper, though, and I often wonder if that had anything to do with it.He’s still barbering — all of his belly feathers grew in, and he let them stay neat for about a day or two before he started chewing the ends off again.
