Hi again!

I had a question on brooder temperatures for my 19 day old chick with pin feathers (the feathers are just starting to come out of the sheaths at the tips). Everything I have been reading seems conflicting.

Ask Noodles says 90 degrees F for pin feathered chicks
Cockatiel cottage says 80-85 for pin feathered chicks
This aviary says 86-90
And this pdf from an avian vet says nothing below 86 degrees F

Once it gets to the low 90's I've notice panting. He seems comfortable in the 80's but I just wasn't sure how low it could go.

Thanks!

I had another question regarding weaning/ offering adult foods. My chick is only 20 days old today, and I caught it exploring and trying some poop. Can I offer some soaked pellets, just in case it wants to try them out? Or would there be harm in that since it is so young?

3 weeks is very young. It's common for small birds to explore things with their beaks. So try to keep their environment clean.
