Bourke parakeet cage idea and advice

I will be getting a bourke's parakeet in a couple weeks and was hoping to get a couple people to share their cage setup for their bourkes! Any advice and recommendations are welcome! I currently have a cockatiel, should his cage set up be similar layout? What do your parakeets like in their cage? The cage I'm getting for him is 32"×21"×60". I included a picture of the new baby and the cage he will be in

What a sweet little guy! The best thing you can do for a Bourke's is flying space; mine absolutely love to fly more than my other birds except Fig, and they aren't big climbers, so the ability to fly from place to place is key. For that reason, we tended to cluster their toys and perches at the ends and sides to leave as much of the middle open for flying as we could. As far as toys, ours really love cork and shredded paper, and they really like swings. I'm attaching pics of the cage we had for Mochi when we first got her, as well as the indoor aviary that all four share with our two cockatiels now.

My Bourke's has a 31x21 cage, but he's also out most of the day to free fly. I agree that his favorite thing in the world is flying. If he didn't have a lot of out of time, I would want a double flight cage.

For toys, he likes cork bark, balsa, Sola, shredded paper, corn husk puffs, and palm strips.

Thank you! Do you cover your cage at night? I cover my cockatiels cage but I know Bourke parakeets have a different sleep pattern so I was wondering about that?

No I do not. He is most active in the morning and evening when lights are not as bright. Usually naps for 2-3 hours at midday, and then again after midnight. We are usually up in the living room until about that time and us being there doesn't seem to bother him at all.
