BooBoo the handicapped U2

[A Helping Wing]

BooBoo has been with us for a few months now. She nailed me pretty good in the face for a handicapped bird (who would of thought she could jump that high and bite me in the lip). Her feet are turned inwards and up so she walks on her elbows. People were great about keeping her elbows soft but never clipped the nails. One back nail had grown in a circle and had grown into the toe. What a relief she must of felt when we groomed her.

Anyway, BooBoo is an absolutely adorable bird who only gets over excited when new people come/go. She also adores John and will go off when he comes in.

Only a couple. Killian, U2, adores him as well. You should see how excited BooBoo gets when he walks in, she can't control it.

I'm pretty sure it happened at "birth", she's so well adjusted.

You should see her take a bath, she floats in the tub like a duck.

That breaks my heart to see that she was in a cage like that for that long.... So glad she is with you and being spoiled. Maybe she is trying to test the waters a bit. Just dont react to her when she does this walk away with no reaction. I dont know about the hormone thing as birds can do this without being hormonal. And Isis is hormonal right now but not nippy or bitey. She was only that way when she was younger and had to learn her boundries... Let us know how she is doing and maybe making a log of whats going on at the time to see if you can figure it out. Like any back ground noise was anyone moving quickly??? stuff like that.. Aww that poor baby!! I am so glad you took her in and have her in a better cage that what looks like an upside down laundry basket! I wonder if surgery would repair her freet and she'd be able to walk normally?
