Man he's making so many strides forward today.Update - I TOUCHED HIM!
He let me scritch his head!
Flew away when I tried step up, but I touched him! Ahhhhh!
All of my previous "conure" experience was just sun, jenday, and nanday - it never occurred to me I'd never actually heard a GCC. So I just assumed all conures were loud, pitchy, shrill, and made my eyeballs vibrate.I know what you mean by getting a GCC sooner. A friend of mine, some 40 years ago had a conure and oh my goodness I could hear that thing down the block. So had always shied away from them, seeing as living in an apt.
forward 40 years and lost 5 birds in a span of 10 years, though they were all old, I wanted another bird. Fell in love with videos of GCC but was still apprehensive about the noise level…
Well, let me tell you, Bailey is an absolute hoot, is quiet except for the odd raucous call when he wants out and we are not fast enough and is the quickest learner and most word vocal of all the birds we have had over the last 42 years. As much as all our babies had their own wonderful personalities and traits, for sheer playfulness etc, it’s a GCC hands down for me from now on.
and I just love him to bits!!
looks a lot like Boba, but Bailey is a high red yellow sided, so the red goes up his chest further, but otherwise they could be twins!
Haha the cursed out in conureese is something else isn’t it hahaDragon is quiet and they definitely seem too have their own language. I have been cursed out in Conureese more times than I could count. Dragon is opinionated and funny. I cannot get over how much time he spends flopped over on his back beating up some foot toy with both feet and his wings. IF my Gray had done that we would have been at the vet within 1/2 hour......
Well I could say I told you so haha if you can handle teils noise rest are easySo, Boba has been here a few weeks, and has been in the bird room for... A week and a half?
i’m almost sorry I did not get a green cheek before this, because if he is typical of how loud they are and the sound they make then I had nothing to be concerned about for as long as I did. In my head I guess I had it that all conures sounded like sun conures and made your teeth shatter.
A few weeks in, and I can safely say that Tteok is louder, although Boba is definitely a bit more shrill. But overall he sound more like a combination of crickets and rusty door hinges.
So is that pretty typical of GCCs? Or am I still waiting for the other shoe?
I 100% agreeHe loves you! I'd say the going to you when you leave the room is saying a lot.
