This happened at a zoo in the US recently, but with different species of macaws. Ironically, the same zoo lost two of its piping guans when a visitor/visitors left the walk-through exhibit doors open. All of the birds were found safely, and hopefully that will happen here as well.

The Melbourne zoo had a missing macaw (maybe 2 but I can’t recall) a while back too.


On the topic of BTMs I saw a heap were recently released to add to the wild population.

A good illustration of how far parrots can travel, and worth bearing in mind for members whose pets have flown away.
Yes, even enduring 6 days out in the British weather amongst all the other dangers.

To be honest, I don't think the weather would have been much of a problem. It's been rainy but unseasonably warm, which temperatures reaching up 16/17°C and rarely dipping below 8°C. If they had an outside aviary and were acclimatised, and were able to shelter from the rain, I don't think they would have had much trouble.
