Hello, I'm pretty new to these forums and I signed up to have this question asked because I've been trying to dig around but I can't really tell why my lovebird does this so I might just need some answers.

Her name is Peaches and I got her about three weeks to a month now. I've been able to hand-feed her and she seems okay with me around her cage, but then sometimes she'll reach and bite my thumb or finger really hard to the point where it almost bleeds. I try not to make too much noise or not yank my hand away and instead try to pull the treat away and then my hand. Is she just cranky or since it's still spring here, would it be hormonal (though she's only around three to four months)? Or am I just using the wrong methods?

she's about eight to nine weeks now? (as told by the breeder) she nips on my fingers every now and then while I'm hand feeding her inside the cage before a full-on bite

She may feel like she's backed into a corner. Can you let her come out of the cage and then try to give her treats from there?

Lots of female lovebirds are cage territorial. I would work with her, feed her away from the cage.

Yep just open it up and let her come out of she wants to!
