Bird wont play with toys

I'm hoping to buy my cockatiel some new toys, all he did was ignore his old ones and attack them out of fear occasionally. What toys might he like, and how do I get him to play with them?

What does he already have?

I suggest Balsa wood, vine/rattan balls, and seagrass mats.

Some birds need some encouragement I also found that a lot of the toys available at many pet stores really aren't that interesting for cockatiels. They tend to like balsa, sola, yucca, Mahogany, palm, etc.
