Bird cage has rust...

I just noticed some rust in Annies cage.
It's around the area that holds her water bowl, I assume this is from when she takes a bath and gets water all over.

I wiped it away the best that I could but it definitely makes me very nervous.

There's some that I can't quite reach but I don't think she could either.

Is it safe for now still?

Suggestions for when I do get her a new cage?
Sometimes she bites the bars so preferably safe paint or something to where she can't chip paint off.
Preferably something that won't rust too.

Thanks!

Might help to attach a pic so the damage can be seen :)

Apologies for the lighting.
I circled where the rust was.
I've since cleaned it up the best I could.

The up close is where there is still rust, it's where the little door attached, it's inside of the "tube" if you'll call it that, that hold the door on.

Hopefully this all makes sense.

I cleaned the rust with warm water on a paper towel then let it air dry then wiped it again with a wet paper towel then wiped it down with a dry paper towel.

I think a few people here have replaced single panels for their damaged cages and others I believe have had their cages powder coated........ I really can not remember but I know I have read about solutions to fix rust problems before.
@JLcribber might be able to tell you if it is a problem where it is, how to fix it or where to get it fixed. I hope :)

@Guava123 I don’t think you can prevent rust on certain cages. Some types are more prone then others. I don’t know what type of metal this is but I have two cages like that one. One has had rust on it the other has not. I’m not a cage expert so I’m not for sure.

It depends I think-stainless steel doesn't rust, steel and iron rusts, but if it's powder coated it shouldn't. Was yours powder coated?

Most cages are powder coated. I've definitely had powder coated cages rust!

My powder coated cage is getting rust in a few spots, they’re not where my bird can get to so I’m not concerned at this stage.
SS cages are great but also very very expensive and not even available everywhere.
