BooBerry, the big blue chicken, has been with us for 2 months now, and it's been an adventure. I had him checked out by the vet for a wellness exam and a microchip. We had a round of bloodwork, and everything came back normal. I was also able to confirm he is 21 years old and will be 22 in January. They didn't have his exact hatch date, so I'll pick a date and make it his hatch day. Boo does not like Felix, but during Thanksgiving dinner, he stepped right up onto a friend of ours. I understand it though. The guy was a stranger and didn't mean anything to him, whereas Felix is a competitor because he lives here. We're working on it, though, and making very slow progress. His intelligence continues to impress me. If he is at the top of his cage, I will say, "Come on," and walk down the hall to my office. A few minutes later, he comes to where I am sitting at my desk. He knows where the room is in the house, and he doesn't stop to touch anything along the way. One night, he was lying on my chest, and I mentioned his previous owner. He reached up and gently picked my bottom lip. The rules are the rules, so he went back to his cage, and the next morning, he wouldn't look at me. A few days later, he was frisky and hormonal. I booped him on his beak a few times with my index finger. I curled my hand up into a fist, but he pushed it around until he could get to my index finger and tap it with his beak. He didn't care about the other fingers or my other hand. I have no doubt that he pinched me for what I said, and I won't be repeating his name.

Here are a couple of pictures of Boo. In his favorite spot on my chest. Coming into the office to find me. Sitting on my leg, ready to dance. For whatever reason, he likes this singer and always dances to his songs. A local vendor has made 3D-printed parrots for the store, so I brought home a 3D-printed hyacinth. Boo was initially afraid of it and then tried to eat it.

Wow. I've never seen a macaw with that color. He's so beutiful. Is he a specific breed of macaw? :heart2: He has the sweetest eyes. I know he probably is amazing to cuddle with hehe

He looks to be a hyacinth macaw!! They're pretty rare in captivity and are even more rare to see in the wild. They're very pretty.
He is a hyacinth. Before working at the bird store, I had only seen them in zoos, and only from a distance. This boy is a riot. It's not quite 7 am, and he's in his cage chattering away. For a bird that can have such a loud, deep scream, he has such a high-pitched speaking voice that it sounds like a little girl playing in the other room.
