Best travel cage for a macaw?

So Cody came to me with a dog kennel as a travel crate - and while I feel like that works for her, its SUPER heavy and awkward to carry. Plus with me having a greenwing now, I doubt Callie would fit in there comfortably for vet visits. Is there a light weight version that would hold both birds (Not at the same time but size wise?) I plan on getting Callie used to a leash once I find the right size for her. Any help on either the travel crate or leash?

We use plastic dog crates. Of course over time they got holes chewed in the side areas. "Petmate" makes a plastic dog crate that has metal panels in the sides. They may hold up to a macaw longer than an all plastic crate & be less heavier than an all metal crate. Petmate Sky Kennel For Air and Travel Dog Crate | Petmate They come in several sizes. I saw some on Amazon. Both my macaws were longer than the crates we use, so tails tend to bend a bit, but they straighten out later.

When we had B&G macaws we too used the plastic dog crates. I actually lucked out and found practically brand new at yard sales. Just disinfected it and we were all set.

It has been many, many years since King's made aluminum carriers which I regret not having brought. With that said, unless you are planning on spending a small fortune on something stainless steel, I would use a dog crate. I still use one.

We also use a plastic dog crate for our guy for vet visits; he's not into chewing it, so we've lucked out. We got a macaw-sized bird backpack for him as well, but we don't use it much because we're still working on getting him acclimated to it. Also, he doesn't like stepping down backwards, so we're still working on that.
