Hey guys, so my budgies have been eating roudybush pellets. They don't really like it and kick everything out. My parents are saying to switch to a seed mix. So I was wondering what seed mix is the best? Which ones do you guys use?

Any seed mix is not a complete diet and will still need to be supplemented with pellets and/or veggies. Have you tried a different pellet?

Is there a way I can get them to eat roudybush and not kick?

Are you mixing it with seeds? Often they will kick out pellets to get to the yummier stuff ;)

I have not had any luck with any birds eating Roudybush, and only 1 that would eat Harrison's. All of mine have taken to Zupreem readily though!

No, they just kick it out for fun. Even when I don't put seeds.

So you gives yours zupreem? If so, the colored or non colored. I was thinking about trying the natural one without color.

I wouldn't give up until your bag of pellets is empty :)

Why not give them silo feeders that they can't climb into and empty. A 10 second Google found this on amazon

but I think @Zara has a better link.
This are almost identical to the ones I use.
My Sunbeam dumps pellets simply because she does not want them :shifty: Mixing seed through the pellets actually stops her. I found it to be just trial and error to see what finally worked. We are at a point she doesn’t do it anymore, and I feels it’s partly because they are getting a crumble instead of actual pellets.

Yes, I recommend you to convert them on seed mix, they are more natural for them. Do not be affraid that the seeds themselves will cause fatty liver or what.... Try to find grass seeds and canary seeds for your birds. If not, prefer normal millet seeds withouth sunflower and cardy.... Try to get them red millet sprays... Not just like a treat, but you can also use them regularly like a normal food.

That one is a little different to mine. The one I have, the birds can still pick up pellets and rop them through the little grate into the drop tray of the feeder. @fashionfobie has something I think could work, she uses it to avoid food splatter from veggies, but it could work for putting pellets inside.

I got a pair of these for my parrotlets. They flick their veggies etc. I don't use it for seed however. Though I am sure it could work.

It's empty, I tried to make them eat, but when I was at school they continued kicking. I bought a feeder, but it didn't last very long and got stuck.

Can you buy normal hanging bowls? And really try the seeds...

I tried the hanging ones, but they dropped the bowl itself. I guess I'll get the fruit pellets and try to convert them to zupreem naturals.
