It has been around for many years, and there is nothing wrong with feeding it, however it is not necessary. I will say that if that is what a new bird is used to eating, it may be helpful to give him some until he is settled in and readily eating the other foods that you provide.

He probably recommended it because it’s especially good for young birds that are weaning (as well as sick birds). Ultimately your bird’s diet is up to you as long as you follow general guidelines.

thank you! i think i'm going to see if he will eat chop, and if he doesn't i will try feeding him this for the time being.
