What bar spacing is recommended as the biggest safety wise for a sun conure? I found a few cages I was interested in but the bar spacing is 0.7 inches. Is this too big and I should stick with 0.5 inches or would it be okay? All my other babies are in 0.5 in spacing but Uli is definitely my biggest bird now. Cute Uli photo of them snuggling into my hair as bird tax. IMG_9483.jpeg

Are blu crowns about the same size as suns? For some reason I thought they were quite a big bigger. But I have never seen one in person

I looked it up. They do look a bit bigger but not terribly much. Hopefully someone will be along soon to give us advice.

I didn’t think they were too much bigger but then you made me question myself  I knew they were bigger but I did think they would need same bar spacing I am thinking of getting Blu a bigger cage he’s in same one as you have I think but most bigger cages have bigger bar space

and that makes me want a sun all over again Blu sister as a jenday best friend

For some reason I had it in my head that you had a very large sized conure. They are smaller than I thought they were LOL. All of my babies are in a yahetech cage, which I think has worked lovely for them but I think it is a tad small for a sunny.

Sunnies are seriously wonderful birds. So far we are enamored with Uli and my husband loves Salari. It is a shame you are noise sensitive. But Blu is a beautiful boy as well.

A sun conure to you is what a galah is to me. My absolute dream bird, the noise isn't to much but I am honestly nervous with large birds. So it will just stay a dream.

I have an average-sized green cheek in a cage with 3/4” bar spacing, which from what I understand is the absolute maximum. Some staff from the parrot shelter I got the cage from agreed it would be great for a greenie, and I haven’t had any issues… and honestly, I highly doubt that big head of his could fit through even if he tried :hilarious:

So, since sun conures are larger, as far as I know 3/4” (0.75in) bar spacing should be just fine :)

Thank you! I would have just called my vets office to ask but she’s out on maternity leave. I suppose I could have called our back up vet, but I figured someone would have the answer here.
