The new millet from Higgins I just got has small black hairs all over the stem and the bad they are like facial hair stubble when you shave when pulling apart the millet with my hands a lot of it’s come out what is this? Does any one no

That is strange to have something on the stems. Do you think the areas are insects? Most of the diseases of millet are a fungus and it shows on the leaves of the plant. Can you return it?
This is it on the bowl and some on the millet itself

It dosent really show here on the millet but I shook it over that bowl for a second and all that came off

Could be the variety. Every millet I've had or grown has had tiny hairs on the stem and around the millet globes. When they dry they can turn dark and "shed"

I've seen the hairs too, but the millet my budgies like don't have black ones. Mind you, they prefer Sunseed millet & will hold out for it. So, naturally I oblige & only buy it now.
